NEA: Do not litter or patronise illegal hawkers

It also strongly advised the public not to buy food, drinks and party novelties, including foam spray, from illegal hawkers.
The NEA said that it would be stepping up its enforcement efforts against littering and illegal hawking at year-end celebratory events, including those along Orchard Road, Marina Bay, VivoCity, Causeway Point and other venues of celebration.
First-time littering offenders for small items (example: cigarette butts) can be fined $300, while repeat and first-time offenders who litter larger items (example: drinking cups, containers and plastic bags) will be issued either a Corrective Work Order (CWO) or be fined up to $1,000.
Illegal hawkers may be fined up to $1,000. Repeat offenders may be fined up to $4,000, jailed up to three months, or both.

They are out to catch litter bugs and illegal hawkers. The whole excercise serves 2 purposes. It keeps Singapore litter-free and the fines imposed will go into swelling the national coffers.Like or Dislike:
